Triangles, Triangles, Triangles.

I have spent the last few weeks working on my business plan and doing what I love most...Research! One of the favourite trends I have stumbled upon has to be triangles. Bold patterns and bright colours are cropping up everywhere. Retro meets modern with clean cut geometrics, fresh colours and repeats. This style nods towards a Danish style of 'less is more' where everything is clean and functional.

I couldn't resist adding these designs by recent graduate Becky Hodgson. Triangles and animal illustrations, what more could you want!

I am currently working on some new pattern based designs to complement my original designs, stay tuned!

New Design Britain @ Interiors UK 2012

I can't believe its over a week ago that we were all setting up for Interiors UK, I met some fantastic fellow designers and it was so lovely to be within a vibrant yet relaxed area of the show. It began to feel like home and now I generally miss the people I met and being surrounding with such beautiful, contemporary design!
The show presented me with new ideas, inspiration and direction for my work. I was genuinely shocked to receive such positive feedback for my furniture designs, especially coming from a surface design background. Although this was a path I had at first neglected I now have fresh enthusiasm, after all the mind boggling I went through after finishing university I had simply forgotten how much love I have for interior products and furniture. I am now in the process of developing my furniture for a more commercial market, starting with attending a laminating and veneering course in April!

The show has been invaluable in helping me discuss my ideas with a variety of different people from a diverse number of professions and backgrounds. Discovering what the appeal of my products is, how I can improve and how I can now develop my products to a more commercial audience. After 3 years at university being pushed to think outside the box, using the most unusual materials and processes possible it is now time to focus all my ideas and condense them into simpler more viable processes yet keeping the creativity flowing!
Hopefully in 2012 I can find the opportunity and experience of taking part in some collaborative projects, freelance work and commissions in a variety of different areas of the design world.
***The hard work starts now!***

A big thank you to everyone at Interiors UK, Tony Hollyer and all the team at New Design Britain and all the lovely designers I met within NDB & Designers Block!
