A Nursery in Yellow & Green...

There is only 2 weeks to go until we welcome little baby Arnold into the world and today I made the finishing touches to the nursery. I have spent months scouring Pinterest for inspiration, painting old furniture all sourced from my Grandmas old house and scouring charity shops for bargains. Hopefully the room shows that with a little bit of paint, a sewing machine and time, you can create a lovely little hub for your newborn on a minuscule budget.  I was able to use some of the material I have had stashed away for years, using it to make a cot valance, covering an old toy box to double up as a seat as they get older and also used some old wrapping paper to revamp a tired bookcase. We went for a unisex palette of duck egg blues, lime greens and I couldn't not add a little yellow into the mix! The result is a mix of calm and contentment, it is defiantly our favourite room in the house. What do you think?
Now all we need is a baby...

Things may be a little quiet on the Lucy Alice Designs front for the next few months as we adjust to our new family life however with thanks to my very helpful husband the online shop will be open over Christmas with new lines being added over the next week, so those little Lucy Alice gifts can find a way under your tree!

3 weeks to go...DIY & the hen do!

With only 3 weeks to go until we tie the knot I am busy making all the finishing touches and finalising the structure of the day! This was the bit I was most looking forward to and ow how I have enjoyed myself. If the day doesn't go as smoothly as planned at least people will have pretty things to look at right?!

I have also just come back from my hen do in sunny Brighton. We all dressed up as 1950's housewives and spent the day at a beach hut along the seafront. Ate picnic food, played party games and paddled in the sea. It was a brilliant surprise and so nice to do something so different!

Here is a sneak peek at what I have been up-to...

5 weeks to go...Stationery: 'Oh Happy Day'

It is 5 weeks until our big day and I am hoping to blog each week about our plans and inspirations!

I will getting married to the boy I met in the first year of university over 4 years ago. We will be wed in the village church across the road, followed by celebrations at the village hall. We have planned the day to be a very relaxed affair with a village fete theme, full of d.i.y details and a very small budget to boot!

We started planning the day back in April 2012 when Harry proposed after we moved into our first flat. To be honest we have been very laid back with the whole 'wedding planning' thing and everything (so far) has been quite straight forward.  We picked a date, booked up the church, village hall, photographer, hire of equipment and caterers all very early on last year. We then set about putting a guest list together in order to send out our save the date cards. (The exciting creative bit!)

The research and inspiration started almost immediately, one word...Pinterest! I am sure you have all heard of Pinterest but for those of you that haven't, Pinterest is a virtual pin board where you can save and group together ideas and images for any occasion or theme. It has been my best friend throughout the whole time and id say it is a definite must when planning your wedding. You can also create secret boards so your wedding plans are kept a secret!

You can follow me and view my boards here:

We have decided on a theme of a yellow, village fete, mismatched day full of fun d.i.y details and we wanted our invitations to reflect this.

So here they are, our save the dates and invitations, designed by myself and lovingly hand assembled by the Fiancee!

A peek into my studio...

This weekend I took part in the Creative Quarter Open studio's event and opened up my space to the public.

It was great to let people into my little world which I usually share with just me, myself and I!
Despite the wind and the rain we had lots of visitors who were all able to both see where all my products are made and buy my work within the exclusive sample sale.

Here is a little look into the Lucy Alice Studio....

Thank you to everyone who popped by!
